Atom smashers

CERN’s Large Hadron Collider is going back to work. On its to do list: test hypotheses for string theory, dark matter, and the Higgs boson (the elusive “God particle”).

Meanwhile, a new generation of planned particle colliders will attempt to recreate mini-supernovae to look for thousands of new elements.
